Way of exile
2025
The island lies far away. Across fog and rain. Its location is uncertain. Time and history run slower yet it feels more real than the changing city.

You can see Istanbul from the shores of Heybeliada. It looks surreal, like computer generated graphics for a sci-fi. It looks so close, so menacing.

Prince Islands have been a place of exile since the old times. They hosted out-of-favour byzantine princes and emperors, members of sultan family and later on people who, for different reasons, needed to hide.

Sometimes exile is forced. Sometimes exile is voluntary. Sometimes a way of exile is a way of life even if you stay in the midst of action.
